IIL Foundation signs MoU with SVPUAT to foster farmer awareness in crop protection and nutrition
IIL Foundation already have an MoU with SVPUAT, under which the Foundation is working closely with KVK Hapur to create awareness about the latest technology in crop protection and nutrition

Meerut, Uttar Pradesh: IIL Foundation, the CSR arm of Insecticides (India) Limited has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel University of Agriculture and Technology in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, on February 13, 2024. The collaboration aims to educate farmers on the latest technologies in crop protection and nutrition.

The signing ceremony took place at the university campus during a sugarcane awareness workshop jointly organised by IIL Foundation in association with SVPUAT in the presence of Padma Shri Dr. Bakshi Ram, former director of ICAR-Sugarcane Breeding Institute, as the chief guest. MoU was signed by Dr. KK Singh, Vice Chancellor of the university and MK Singhal, Vice President, on behalf of the IIL Foundation. Dr. PK Singh, Director Extension, SVPUAT; Sanjay Singh, Senior General Manager, IIL and other officials, university faculty and more than 300 farmers attended the event.

During the workshop, farmers benefited from the talk of Dr. Bakshi Ram on the latest technology updates and good practices in sugarcane farming and the myths that farmers should leave to get better productivity and income along with other experts from the university.

IIL Foundation already has an MoU with SVPUAT, which was signed in 2022, under which the Foundation is working closely with Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Hapur to create awareness about the latest technology in crop protection and nutrition and has benefited more than 1200 farmers by now in the Hapur region of western UP.

During the workshop, progressive farmers were also awarded with ‘IIL Kisan Samman’ for their achievements in sugarcane farming.

“Sugarcane farming is vital for increasing the income of the farmers from western UP. Already farmers from Muzaffarnagar and Shamli are making records in sugarcane production. We need to work using the latest technology so that input cost can be minimised,” said Dr. KK Singh, Vice Chancellor, SVPUAT, during his address at the workshop.

IIL has been fostering farmer education and awareness since the inception of the IIL Foundation. Speaking about the collaboration, MK Singhal, Vice President at Insecticides (India), emphasised the importance of empowering farmers with technological solutions to ensure they receive fair value for their efforts.

Dr. PK Singh, Director of Extension, SVPUAT applauded this initiative to work for farmer awareness. He assured that this would work towards providing the best knowledge to the farmers so that their income can be maximised.

Sanjay Singh, Sr. GM, IIL also explained the complete crop practice for sugarcane so that they optimise the cultivation cost.

By leveraging expertise and resources, both organisations aim to contribute to the prosperity and well-being of farming communities in the region and beyond.
