ET Ascent confers HarvestPlus with ‘Mark of Excellence’ for improving millions of lives globally

Hyderabad-based, HarvestPlus has been honoured with the Mark of Excellence Award at the 2023 Economic Times (ET) Ascent Business Leader of the Year Awards ceremony in Mumbai, India. The award recognises HarvestPlus as a global leader in the promotion of biofortified nutrient-enriched crops to improve the nutrition and health of millions of people worldwide.

The ET Ascent Awards, powered by The Economic Times, World Sustainability, and CMO Asia recognise and celebrate the achievements of outstanding leaders and organisations in their respective fields.

“We are honoured to receive the Mark of Excellence Award on behalf of our partners in recognition of the millions of farmers and rural families who are thriving from biofortified crops,” said Ravinder Grover, HarvestPlus Asian Regional Coordinator, who accepted the award on behalf of the organisation. “This award from the Economic Times motivates us to continue our hard work combatting micronutrient malnutrition and transforming agri-food systems,” Grover added.

For two decades, HarvestPlus and its partners have been working on developing and promoting crops that are naturally rich in essential vitamins and minerals and have proven to improve nutrition and health. The number of vulnerable people eating nutrient-enriched crops has increased significantly year on year.

“Today, nearly 90 million people in over 40 countries are benefiting from biofortification. Through the work of our partners and our programmes, the HarvestPlus approach empowers women, improves livelihoods, and builds climate-smart resiliency into the food system,” the organisation said.
