Department of Agriculture, Cooperation and Farmers Welfare, Government of India has released the the 4th Advance Estimates of production of major crops for 2018-19, in New Delhi Monday evening.
As per 4th Advance Estimates, total foodgrains production in 2018-19 is estimated at 284.95 million tonnes compared to 285.01 million tonnes of the Final Estimates of 2017-18.

According to the 4th Advance Estimates, oilseeds production in 2018-19 is estimated at 32.26 million tonnes as compared to 31.45 million tonnes of the Final Estimates of 2017-18. Cotton production is estimated at 28.71 million bales of 170 kg each against 32.8 million bales of 2017-18 and sugarcane production is estimated at 400.16 million tonnes as compared to 380 million tonnes of 2017-18.
Production of Jute & Mesta is estimated at 9.77 million bales of 180 kg each as compared to 10.03 million bales of 2017-18.
The assessment of production of different crops is based on the feedback received from the states and validated with information available from other sources.
