5 Agritech startups enabling farmers to go all digital

Sustainable agricultural technology can transform the global food landscape. Agritech startup innovations are addressing some of the key challenges connected to agriculture and food production. Many agritech startups are working on various technologies that not only create a viable business but will also help improve farm income.The agriculture sector has come up as one of the fastest booming sectors. It provides supplement incomes for existing farmers especially small tract holders by offering them a variety of growing options. Agdhi

Agdhi, an agritech startup based in Bengaluru has introduced vision enabled AI-based technology in agriculture. It has launched machine learning and computer vision techniques to detect defects in seeds and crops, thus enabling the farming community to get quality seeds and crops. The results arrive in seconds.The aim is to bring technology disruption in seed testing, seed sampling, and crop yield, which is the need of the hour. The startup is introducing digital technology and building alternative solutions to facilitate sustainable methods in agriculture.

Barton Breeze

Barton Breeze is a commercial hydroponic farm specialist, using controlled sustainable technology and modern farming techniques, to create highly productive agri-models for the new-age farmer. Barton Breeze sets up fully-automated hydroponic farms using its in-built technologies to grow clean and pesticide-free vegetables. Barton implements artificial intelligence and internet of things (IoT) for productivity. Software is developed where a device is clipped on the leaves and stem of each plant. The software is connected to the computers, and informs the user when a particular plant needs more nutrients or minerals.

BharatAgri

BharatAgri is a farming technology platform where they work with farmers directly. BharatAgri follows the mission of bridging the gap between technology and agriculture in India with a vision to reach out to maximum Indian farmers. They support farmers to “Grow Efficient, Grow More” through the systematic implementation of scientific techniques by providing critical information at appropriate times and regular monitoring.

Ergos

Patna-based Ergos has one of the most unique models in the agritech landscape. They have created a Grainbank that enables farmers to convert their grains into tradable digital assets, avail credit against those assets through partner NBFCs and banks, and get better prices for their produce. The Ergos Grainbank platform empowers farmers by providing them with a choice on when, how much quantity and at what price they want to sell their produce, thus maximising their income.
