New Delhi: In the Kharif season 2024, Best Agrolife Ltd (BAL), a prominent producer of specialised and patented agrochemicals in India, will introduce a rice herbicide formulation under the brand name ‘Orisulam,’ the company announced. With an estimated annual business potential of approximately Rs 2000 crores in the rice herbicide segment, BAL foresees ‘Orisulam’ becoming a significant growth driver.
BAL has announced the registration of two formulations. The agrochemical company has received the 9(3) Formulation Indigenous Manufacture (FIM) registration from the Central Insecticides Board & Registration Committee (CIBRC) for its patented formulation, which includes Bispyribac Sodium 0.25 per cent, Penoxsulam 0.25 per cent, and Pyrazosulfuron Ethyl 0.20 per cent GR. These three molecules, part of the ALS (acetolactate synthase) inhibitors herbicide group, work synergistically to disrupt the synthesis of essential amino acids in weeds, thereby delivering triple the effectiveness in weed control, the agrochemical company informed, recently.

“Best Agrolife Orisulam is a versatile herbicide effective for pre-emergence, early post-emergence and post-emergence stages in paddy cultivation. Its patented triple combination of three molecules ensures effective control of grasses, broad leaves, and sedges. It offers a comprehensive approach with a flexible application window, and its granular formulation is designed for easy application, BAL informed.
According to Best Agrolife, the group has also obtained 9(3) FIM vs FIT registrations for Boscalid 25.2 per cent + Pyraclostrobin 12.8 per cent WG. This fungicidal blend demonstrates efficacy in speciality crops like grapes, particularly for combating downy mildew and powdery mildew diseases.

“BAL continues to enhance its product portfolio significantly. Previously, the company secured registration for its patented formulation ‘Defender,’ designed to efficiently control BPH in the crop health segment of paddy cultivation,” the company said.
“Throughout this year, the agrochemical company has reached numerous milestones, notably securing the registration for Fomesafen Technical 95 per cent, obtaining patents for the ‘Tricolor,’ ‘Warden Extra,’ and ‘Shot Down’ formulations,” BAL informed.
