Jal Sanchay (water conservation), a CSR Project, which CNH Industrial India commenced over a year ago to revamp, rejuvenate and conserve four ponds in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. Located in Devla, Kheda Choganpur, Sorkha, and Surajpur in Greater Noida in Gautam Buddha Nagar district, Uttar Pradesh, these four ponds, today represent sustained development with the conservation and rejuvenation work progressing as per the plan.
Landscaping work has been carried out around the edges of the ponds to enhance the biodiversity of the surrounding area and to improve air quality. CNH Industrial has also installed solar-powered lamps around the ponds which have not only increased visibility during the evening but have allowed the local community to further harness this renewable source of energy for other needs.
CNH Industrial will be providing the maintenance and upkeep of these ponds until March 2022. Speaking about the project Raunak Varma, Country Manager – India & SAARC, CNH Industrial India, said, “Over a year ago, most of these water bodies were in a neglected state with a rapid depletion in groundwater level. We aimed to transform these ponds as a major source of water storage with the proper provision of recharging facilities through monsoon rains and plantation around the perimeters to prevent this siltation for the future. With steadfast hard work put in by our team, we are delighted to see that our CSR project is on the right track and meeting our targeted milestones. I am sure we will see even greater accomplishments as the project progresses.”
The employees of CNH Industrial volunteered to work on this CSR initiative by creating awareness about the project through community interaction. Awareness creation sessions were organised at local level to teach residents about their active role and responsibility in preserving water and maintaining water bodies. The Jal Sanchay programme has already impacted over 2,300 families and a collective population of over 11,000. These numbers are most likely to increase as the project progresses.
