Paddy procurement for Kharif Marketing Season (KMS) 2020-21 is progressing smoothly and has commenced so far in three states, Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. As on October 01, 2020; 197,136 metric tonnes of cumulative procurement of paddy in KMS 2020-21 has been done from 15,705 farmers in three states with a total minimum support price (MSP) outflow of Rs 372.194 crore. The pace of paddy procurement shall pick up in a week’s time, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Government of India has said in press note.
Cotton season 2020-21 started from October 1, 2020. Cotton Corporation of India has geared up its infrastructure for MSP procurement. MSP purchase started in Haryana on October 1, 2020.
