PSFPO works to increase the profitability and sustainability of farmer producer organisations (FPOs) in Odisha, India. This three-year project will work in close collaboration with the Government of Odisha to leverage government resources and expertise to achieve impact. PSFPO will work with farmers and FPOs to develop the FPO ecosystem in the state, improve the implementation of policies and interventions for FPO strengthening, streamline access to markets, and prepare farmers to interact with the private sector.

Tanager will work to improve FPO management, support market linkages between FPOs and the private sector, and improve gender equity. PSFPO will work to address gender inequity in FPOs and market facing companies (MFCs) so that women and female youth benefit from FPO membership and services.

Palladium will work closely with the Government of Odisha as technical support unit to catalyse engagement among key FPO ecosystem stakeholders and support the government to implement its FPO policy. Palladium will also work to synchronise existing digital systems to better serve FPOs in the state and assist government entities to implement digital governance and results measurement in the FPO ecosystem. Since the official launch of the project last month, Palladium has started working with the FPOs and micro food processing enterprises in the state to facilitate linkages with existing government schemes. Palladium has also commenced work with the state government towards bringing convergence in existing agriculture schemes. The Government of Odisha is one of the leading state governments in India to adopt holistic FPO policy and is an important partner in development and success of FPOs. PSFPO is looking forward to collaborate more and working towards more strengthened agriculture ecosystem in Odisha.
