Farmer’s social network Krishify gets 1 crore app downloads
The agritech platform seeks to increase the number of its users in order to build a social network for farmers that covers the entire country of India and includes regional languages

Krishify, an agritech startup, recently reached one crore app downloads, solidifying its position as the leading social networking platform for Indian farmers. It took Krishify, a startup, around three years starting in 2019 to reach one crore app downloads, which includes farmers from the Hindi-speaking region in North India.

The social network was initially only a basic media-sharing application featuring a Q&A area for queries regarding agricultural crops and media elements for sharing information related to agriculture and related endeavours. With time, the platform evolved into a social media forum where farmers could interact with those in other areas and engage in peer-to-peer trading of livestock and farm equipment. The agritech startup was able to quickly grow its user (farmer) base due to its user acquisition approach, which mixes paid and organic media campaigns.

Speaking on the achievement, Rajesh Ranjan, Founder and CEO, Krishify said, “We realised early on that our strength is in attracting farmers who are comfortable and accustomed to utilising smartphones and social media. This gave us the opportunity to plan how to tactically approach them via various digital channels in order to convince them to download our application. Gaining followers is the first step to success. We are equally focusing on retaining users by utilising behavioural science tactics. The ultimate objective is to help farmers overcome their farming challenges and to give them an equal opportunity when dealing with various agricultural stakeholders.”

From a recent round of fundraising supported by VC firms like Omnivore, Omidyar Network, Ankur Capital, and Orios Venture Partners, Krishify has so far raised US$6.5 million. The agritech platform seeks to increase the number of its users in order to build a social network for farmers that covers the entire country of India and includes regional languages.
